Up

A Corona Mill pushes the grain between two flat plates, one of which rotates. This mill is cheap, and very effective at crushing grains. It can be motorized very easily, by adding a 5/16” carriage bolt with its head cut off and drill, instead of the crank that comes with the mill.   David  Weisbergs book “50 Great Homebrewing Tips” has instructions on "supercharging" a Corona Mill.

Purchased this Mill in October 2011 and have achieved excellent results. This is a heavy duty product made from cast iron and is solid and easy to use. The adjustment to get an excellent crush was simple and straight forward. The mounting to a table edge or other platform is strong and can be tightened in a very stable manner. The mill can be mounted in a variety of manners to facilitate a wide range of grain milling platforms and systems. This mill performs well in manual mode using the handle. To achieve excellent performance at a higher speed use of 5/16th inch bolt with the head removed and an electric drill motor speeds the performance greatly. This mill will crush 15 to 17 lbs of grain in 5 to 7 minutes easily. This is an excellent choice for milling grains for brewing.
