Want to see your wort or must ferment during primary fermentation.   Wow! What an amazing thing it is to see the yeast working so hard to make your beer or wine.  Glass is the best and most affordable vessel for fermentation for the home brewer or wine maker it has less chance of contamination than plastic because it is harder to scratch.  Scratches can harbor bacteria and cause infections. Glass is easy to sanitize and will last a life time if cared for.  Never add hot wort to a glass carboy.  The high temperature may cause the glass to expand quickly and break.  A 6.5 Gallon carboy is a perfect primary fermentation vessel for 5 gallons of beer wort or wine must.

If you are a geek like me you will love watching the wort turn to beer. I check it twice a day and take pictures to share with my friends.

This is great for a primary fermenting, it is fun to watch what's going on. Easy to clean just swirl with some cleaner and if that doesn't do it (90% of the time it does) then an angled carboy brush does it. I prefer carboy over plastic buckets, because of possible contamination from deep scratchs in plastic buckets and will be able to pass on to future generations.
